SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball team hit the road for a Great Plains Athletic Conference tilt on Wednesday night, dropping a three-set match to No. 24 Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa.
Set scores were: 25-20, 25-17 and 25-19 in favor of the Mustangs.
DWU fought back to tie the first set at 15 apiece, before the Mustangs tallied three-straight points to end the Tiger threat. Leading 3-1 in the second set, Morningside answered with five-straight points to put the Tigers out of reach. In the finale, the Mustangs scampered to a 9-3 lead and never looked back, handing the Tigers their fourth-straight loss.
Rebecca Frick (Yankton, S.D.) tallied a double-double with 11 kills and 20 digs. Kimberly VanBockern (Arlington, S.D.) added five kills, while Sara Herman tallied 22 digs. Mallory Cooper (Orchard, Neb.) and Darby Duncan (Mellette, S.D.) had 15 and 12 digs, respectively.
The Tigers (12-9, 1-5 GPAC) welcome Dordt College for a GPAC battle at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Corn Palace in Mitchell.
