DWU volleyball adds two wins on Saturday

YORK, Neb. – The Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball team got back to its winning ways, cruising over University of Saint Mary and York College on Saturday in York, Neb. 

 Set scores against the Spires were: 25-22, 25-21 and 25-7, while set scores against York were: 25-14, 25-20 and 25-18.

 In the victory over USM, the Tigers got off to a fast start, backed by 18 total kills from sophomore Rebecca Frick (Yankton, S.D.). Frick also added 20 digs, while freshman Chelsey Heeg (Freeman, S.D.) tallied nine kills and 10 digs. Bridgett Knobbe (Norfolk, Neb.) pitched in a double-double with 37 assists and 16 digs. Sara Herman (Reliance, S.D.) and Darby Duncan (Mellette, S.D.) had 17 and 15 digs, respectively.

 The Tigers had a .300 attacking percentage in a three-set sweep over York. DWU held the host team under 20 points in each set.

 Frick had a double-double with 13 kills and 17 digs, while Heeg added 11 kills. Knobbe recorded 27 assists at the setter position. Herman and Mallory Cooper (Orchard, Neb.) had 16 and 13 digs, respectively.

 DWU (14-11, 1-6 GPAC) continues nonconference action, taking on in-state foe Presentation College at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Christen Family Athletic Center in Mitchell.
