Chargers top Tigers in three sets

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball team stepped back into Great Plains Athletic Conference action, dropping a three-set match to Briar Cliff University on Wednesday in Sioux City.

 Set scores were: 27-25, 25-15 and 25-16 in favor of Briar Cliff.

 After battling in the first set, the powerful Charger offense proved to be too much to overcome for the young DWU squad.

 Rebecca Frick (Yankton, S.D.) led the Tigers with nine kills and 10 digs, just shy of a double-double. Sydney Fritz (Winner, S.D.) and Chelsey Heeg (Freeman, S.D.) added five kills in the loss. Bridgett Knobbe (Norfolk, Neb.) tallied 23 assists, while Sara Herman (Reliance, S.D.) had 11 digs.

 The Tigers (14-13, 1-7 GPAC) host Midland University for Dig Pink Night in the Christen Family Athletic Center at 3 p.m. Saturday in Mitchell.
