Tigers drop road bout to No. 15 Red Raiders

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – The Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball team hit the road for a Great Plains Athletic Conference matchup against No. 15 Northwestern College on Thursday in Orange City, Iowa.

 Set scores were 17-25, 14-25, 27-29.

 After dropping the first two sets, the Tigers (11-5, 1-4 GPAC) fought throughout the third set as they took a 14-13 lead. DWU continued to extend its' lead as Madlyn Christiansen (Omaha, Neb.) tallied a service ace.

 However, the Red Raiders (13-4, 4-1 GPAC) came back to take a 24-21 lead. The Tigers were not done yet as they tied the game at 24 following a kill by Rebecca Frick (Yankton, S.D.). Northwestern would prevail in the end, taking the final set of the game.

 Frick led the attack with 15 kills and 10 digs, while Sara Herman (Reliance, S.D.) tallied six digs. Chelsey Heeg (Freeman, S.D.) notched seven kills, as Jennifer Schmidt (Tyndall, S.D.) finished with four blocks and Emily Brunsing (Wagner, S.D.) recorded five kills.

 The Tigers take on Morningside College in a GPAC showdown at 6 p.m. Saturday in Sioux City, Iowa.
