
MADISON, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball team hit the road to take on Dakota State University in non-conference action. After taking the first set, DWU fell to DSU in four sets Wednesday night in Madison, S.D.
Set scores were 25-17, 17-25, 23-25, 16-25.
In the first set, the Tigers (11-7) found themselves in an early 4-1 hole. However, DWU climbed their way back to tie the set at 13. The Tigers owned the rest of the first set as Mallory Cooper (Orchard, S.D.) finished with a service ace to finish the set.
The Trojans (7-7) completed a comeback in the second set to tie the game at a set apiece. In the third set, the Tigers jumped out to an early 7-3 lead. DWU extended their lead to 21-17 following a Trojan error. But, DSU downed the Tigers in the third and fourth sets.
Rebecca Frick (Yankton, S.D.) led the way with 14 kills and 13 digs, while Madlyn Christiansen (Omaha, Neb.) tallied 15 assists and 11 digs. Bridgett Knobbe (Norfolk, Neb.) finished with 18 assists and 11 digs, as Chelsey Heeg (Freeman, S.D.) notched nine kills and eight digs.
The Tigers return to conference action as they take on No. 7 Midland University at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Christen Family Athletic Center.
