Mitchell, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball team picked up a victory Saturday afternoon as they defeated Concordia University in a Great Plains Athletic Conference match, 3-1 at the Christen Athletic Center.
Set scores were 25-23, 24-26, 25-16, 25-18.
The Tigers (12-8, 2-6 GPAC) got out to a great start taking set one 25-23. The Bulldogs (12-7, 2-7 GPAC) battled back in set two and evened the match 1-1. DWU took full control in set three winning, 25-16. The Tigers secured the victory with a thrilling set four, pulling away and winning, 25-18 to grab their 12th victory of the season.
Rebecca Frick (Yankton, S.D.) led the way for the Tigers with 22 kills and 14 digs. Chelsey Heeg (Freeman, S.D.) finished with a career-high 12 kills, while Emily Brunsing (Wagner, S.D.) also finished with a career-high 10 kills and notched eight blocks. Mallory Cooper (Orchard, Neb.) collected 14 digs, Sara Herman (Reliance, S.D.) finished with 12 digs and Bridgett Knobbe (Norfolk, Neb.) notched 44 assists in the victory.
DWU will hit the road to battle Hastings College at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Hastings, Neb.
