(RV) TIGERS FALL IN STRAIGHT SETS TO NO. 9 FLAMES

Omaha, Neb. – Dakota Wesleyan volleyball fell to 11-9 on the season after getting swept by the Flames in three straight sets. DWU led early in every set but the high powered CSM offense proved to be too much to keep quiet with all their leads slipping away late. Ady Dwight led the way with her 13 kills followed by freshman Logan Bly with nine kills in her first start. Kayleigh Hybertson collected 36 assists in the contest.

Recap

The Tigers dropped set one 25-20 to the Flames despite grabbing an early big 9-3 lead. That lead was slowly chipped away by the Flames. Dakota Wesleyan recorded 14 kills in the set for a .278 percentage which bested the CSM 13 kills and .235 attack percentage. Aces and errors on the DWU side is what plagued the Tigers in the set and caused the big comeback for Saint Mary. Logan Bly in her first career start was a strong number two option for Kayleigh Hybertson, collecting four kills in the set alone. Set two saw those continued struggles for the Tigers as they fell 17-25. Through two sets Ady Dwight and Logan Bly were carrying the offense with 10 kills for Dwight and nine for Bly which was a career-high and counting.

Like in set one, the Tigers had a lead early in the second set but couldn't keep the Flames attack at bay for the entirety of the set. Dakota Wesleyan swung an efficient .306 percentage in the set which is typically good enough to walk away with a set win, but not when CSM had a staggering 21 kills and a .419 attack percentage. Like against Jamestown yesterday, the Tigers were staring down a 3-0 sweep unless they got a spark going. Again, DWU got an early lead going up 7-4 and then extending that lead to 14-9 drawing a CSM timeout. Dakota Wesleyan again let their lead slip away, with the Flames going on a 10-2 run to grab a late 19-16 lead over the Tigers. Dakota Wesleyan clawed back to tie it up at 22 and 23, but the Flames recorded back-to-back kills to put the Tigers away 25-23 and complete the three-set sweep.
