It was Doane that opened the set with a 6-2 lead. DWU pulled within one with a 5-2 run that was fueled by a pair of Dwight kills and a handful of Doane mistakes. They found their groove again getting three straight kills to find the floor, drawing a timeout from Wilber with the score at 11-7. DWU really started to find their rhythm on offense out of the timeout, featuring Dwight, going to the All-American time and time again to knot the score up at 16. Dakota Wesleyan kept that intensity going to close out Doane 9-5 and grab the 25-21 set one win. Logan Bly came on strong at the end of the set, putting strong middle attack after attack away.

In set two it was DWU claiming the lead early with their 5-2 advantage. It was the Tigers again capitalizing on the Doane mistakes who had four errors during the five-point run. DWU continued to keep DOA at arm's length with a four-five-point lead for the first half of the set, leaving the score at 16-11. Doane responded in a big way, tying the game at 18, completing a 7-2 run and five-point comeback. A big kill from Bly ended the run and was followed by a thundering attack from Dwight. Another Doane error pushed the DWU lead to three at 21-18. Dakota Wesleyan closed Doane out 4-3 for the 25-21 set two win.

Set three was a tight back and forth contest for the first half. AT the halfway mark DWU held a slim 16-15 lead. The errors kept racking up for Doane, mainly from the service line, resulting in DWU to pull away late and claim the 25-21 set three win.
