WOMENS WRESTLING SHOWS IMPROVEMENT AT LUTHER HILL INVITE

Indianola, Iowa –

Dakota Wesleyan's women wrestling team had six competitors in the Luther Hill Invitational at Simpson College. Freshman Olivia Smith was the top Tiger with two wins to lead the team.

116 – Ashden Welty lost her match against Daisy Olais of Buena Vista University by fall (5-0)

136 - Mady Sargent had a bye in the first round, then lost to Neve Barragan of Waldorf University by fall (10-0)

170 – Cayley Maynard had two byes, lost to Kami Savaria of Wartburg University by fall (8-0)

170 – Olivia Smith had two byes, defeated Amaya Lopez of Walford University by fall (4-0) and then lost to Kassidee Savaria of Simpson University by fall (4-0)

191 – Kaitlin Gay had two byes before being defeated by Maranda Bell of Iowa Central Community College by fall (2-0)

130 Fr/So – Isabelle Camarillo received two byes, was defeated by Josephine Wearmouth of Simpson College by decision (14-5)

DWU wrestling competed in their first invite of the season and saw a few victories in the younger members of the squad. Head Coach John Lynch said this about the womens' performance "Ladies competed hard showed growth in positions we worked to correct from Wednesday. Freshman Olivia Smith led the charge with two wins and ws round away from placing. Back to work on Monday to keep improving."
