Aschemann appointed as Interim Director of Cross Country and Track and Field at Dakota Wesleyan

MITCHELL, S.D. – Dakota Wesleyan University Athletics is pleased to announce the appointing of Chris Aschemann as the Interim Director of the Dakota Wesleyan University cross country and track and field programs, Director of Athletics Jon Hart announced on Saturday.

 "Chris has been a staple in our program for the last three years and has a strong relationship with our current student athletes," expressed Hart. "He has the ability to lead this program for the near and distant future."

 Aschemann has served as the Associate Head Track & Field Coach at Dakota Wesleyan University over the past two seasons most notably focusing his skillset with the DWU men's and women's throwers. So far during his time with the Tigers, he has coached four All-Conference throwers including 2021 NAIA All-American Caden Milmine who placed fifth in the shot put at the 2021 NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships.

 Prior to his arrival at DWU, the Carterville, Ill., native functioned as a track and field graduate assistant for Central Methodist University before transitioning to Campbellsville University where he coached the throwing events. While with Campbellsville, Aschemann coached three All-Conference performers, an indoor conference champion in the weight throw and an NCCAA All-American in the weight throw.

"I am ready to get to work and want to personally thank Jon and the administration for trusting me with this opportunity to serve as the Interim Director of Cross Country and Track and Field."

 In college, Aschemann played football and was a track and field athlete for Olivet Nazarene University located in Bourbonnais, Ill. He was named to the MSFA All-Conference Team in football while earning a pair of conference championships in the hammer throw and All-American status in the discus.
