Wagner honored as 2020 NFF Hampshire Honor Society member
MITCHELL, S.D. – Senior Dakota Wesleyan University football linebacker Tyler Wagner (Webster, S.D.) was named one of 1,432 members of the National Football Foundation’s (NFF) list of 2020 Hampshire Honor Society members, it was announced by the NFF on Wednesday.
MITCHELL, S.D. – Senior Dakota Wesleyan University football linebacker Tyler Wagner (Webster, S.D.) was named one of 1,432 members of the National Football Foundation's (NFF) list of 2020 Hampshire Honor Society members, it was announced by the NFF on Wednesday.
The award by the NFF is announced annually to football players of all levels from the NCAA Division I, to the NAIA. This year marks the 14th year for the Hampshire Honor Society membership.
In order to become a member, an individual must qualify with a 3.2 cumulative GPA, finish their career in 2019, meet all NCAA- or NAIA-mandated progress toward degree requirement and been a starter or significant contributor during the 2019 season.
Wagner finished with 67 total tackles, good for third on the team, while tallying 11.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. He also recorded two blocked punts in his senior campaign. In his career, Wagner recorded 127 unassisted tackles, 111 assisted tackles and 238 total career tackles. He finished with five sacks and 30.5 tackles for loss throughout his career.
He completed his senior season by being tabbed to the All-GPAC Second Team Defense after being named to the same team in his junior year.
