Hogg leads Tiger men to place 5th at GPAC No. 2

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Dakota Wesleyan University men's golf team competed in Great Plains Athletic Conference Qualifier No. 1 Thursday at Wilderness Ridge Golf Course in Lincoln, Neb.
DWU compiled a team score of 306 and finished in fifth place in the second of four rounds to determine the GPAC champion. Defending conference champion Northwestern College topped the leaderboard carding a 296. The Tigers are tied for fourth in the team standings after two rounds with a 601. Northwestern leads with a two-round score of 585.
Junior Thomas Hogg (Aberdeen, S.D.) led the way for the Tigers. Hogg finished in a tie for eighth place with a 74. Hogg is tied for third place after two rounds and just three strokes back of Doane's Mack Alspaugh for the overall lead.
Senior Anthony Husher (Winner, S.D.) shot a 75, tying for a 10th place, while sophomore Ben McNiven (Merritt, B.C., Canada) ended the day with a 77 and in a tie for 19th place. Sophomore Russell Pick (Kimball, S.D.) finished in a tie for 32nd and carded an 80, while Junior Elliot Banks (East Sussex, England) finished in a tie for 45th with an 83. Renen Sahr from Midland University topped the leaderboard for the round shooting a one-under par 70.
The Tigers will be back in action at William Penn University Sunday October 11 and Monday October 12 in Oskaloosa, Iowa. The final two rounds of the GPAC Championship with take place in the spring.
