Pierre’s Leiferman signs with DWU men’s soccer
MITCHELL, S.D. – After taking the job as head coach of the Dakota Wesleyan University men’s soccer team, Paul Bennett has jumped right in an started the recruiting process for the 2016 season.
MITCHELL, S.D. – After taking the job as head coach of the Dakota Wesleyan University men's soccer team, Paul Bennett has jumped right in an started the recruiting process for the 2016 season.
Bennett picked up a big signing with the commitment of Derek Leiferman for the Class of 2016. The midfielder from Pierre, S.D., brings strong athletic ability to the middle of the field for the Tigers, who are looking to build depth and skill heading into the 2016 season.
"Derek has the technical skills and athletic ability to help bring a spark to the DWU men's soccer team," DWU assistant men's soccer coach Danni Garcia said. "I cannot wait to have him as a part of the team this coming fall."
Leiferman participated in soccer for T.F. Riggs High School for six years, earning four varsity letters and starting three seasons. He was named to the ESD First Team, the All-State Second Team and was a team captain for the Governors.
A member of the South Dakota United Club Team, Leiferman also competed with ODP region pool for three years and was on the ODP state team for two years.
Derek is the son of Todd and Kim Leiferman and plans to major in athletic training with a minor in coaching at DWU.
