General: Fontenot joins the men's Tiger track and field team from Crow Creek High School. Fontenot comes to DWU with experience in the 100-meter, 200-meter and 400-meter.

High School: His senior year, Fontenot ran his best time in the 100-meter dash with 11.01 at the Region 6A Track Meet … ran his best time in the 200-meter dash at the Miller Invitational with a time of 22.69 … placed eighth at the SDHSAA State Track and Field Meet and set a personal best in the 400-meter dash with 50.87 … finished 11^th in the 200-meter dash at 23.21 and 11^th in the 100-meter dash in 11.58 at the 2016 State Track Meet … placed eighth at the Howard Wood Dakota Relays in the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.38 … won the 100-meter, 200-meter and 400-meter dash at the Region 6A Meet … his junior season he finished sixth at the state meet in the 400-meter, with a time of 53.03 and a prelim time of 52.60 … had an 11th-place finish in the 200-meter at the state meet with a time of 23.49 … best mark in the 400-meter with 51.79 at Region 6A Meet, 200-meter with 23.19 at Big Dakota Conference Meet and 100-meter in 11.36 at the Region 6A Meet ... earned All-Conference honors in 2014 … was a starter in football for four years at quarterback and won All-Conference honors two years … played basketball four years and started two years … was salutatorian for his class.
