Tibbs leads strong Tiger showing at Mount Marty Invite
YANKTON, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University cross country teams were up and running again Saturday at the Mount Marty Invitational in Yankton, S.D.
YANKTON, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University cross country teams were up and running again Saturday at the Mount Marty Invitational in Yankton, S.D.
The Tiger men had a strong showing from sophomore Lane Tibbs (Kenesaw, Neb.). Tibbs finished the 8k race in 12th place with a time of 26:28.48. Behind Tibbs was sophomore Jeremiah Panec (Kenesaw, Neb.) who ran a 27:06.20 and finished in 28th. Freshman Bryce Blank (Rapid City, S.D.) had an 89th-place finish running a 29:08.71. Senior Tyler Urban (Plankinton, S.D.) crossed the finish line at 118th.
Taking home the men's individual title was junior Danny Aldaba from Midland University in a time of 25:28.07. Winning the men's team title was Morningside College. The Tiger men did not field runners for a team score on Saturday.
The DWU women were led by senior Skylar Forgey (Colome, S.D.) in the 5k race. Forgey had a 33rd-place finish running a 19:44.88. Freshman Kelsie King (Mission Viejo, Calif.) finished in 71st with a 20:43.74. Senior Nicole Court-Menendez (Lewiston, Maine) ran a 21:16.78 to finish 88th. Sophomore Shailhyn Schweigert (Burke, S.D.) completed the course in a time of 22:00.85 for a 108th-place finish. Sophomore Morgan Aughenbaugh (Huron, S.D) finished in 120th running a 22:41.43.
As a team the Tiger women finished in 10th place, the Dordt women took home the team title. Senior Kayla Byl from Dordt also took home the individual title running an 18:19.60.
The Tiger cross country teams will compete next at the Great Plains Athletic Conference Meet Saturday, Nov. 7 in Crete, Neb.
