TIGERS DROP TWO TO OPEN PLAY IN THE DESERT OF TUCSON, ARIZONA
Tucson, Ariz. – Dakota Wesleyan softball got into a jam near the end of game one against Aquinas. In game two the Tigers were trailing William Penn 2-1 to start off the fifth inning.

How It Happened
Game One
- Tianna Boone and the Tigers struck first in the opening game of the Tucson Invite on a double to right field that drove Reagan Grossi in for the 1-0 lead.
- Aquinas returned to the place in the top of the third inning only to find dead center for a three-run home run taking the lead 3-1 over DWU.
- Dakota Wesleyan tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the inning as coach Lien signaled for a double steal; McKinnely Mull swiped second and Alyssa Burke grabbed the steal of home plate tightening the score at 3-2 AQ leads.
- Grossi's single to second allowed the tying run in Allison McElveny to score as they headed to the fourth inning.
- AQ put up three more runs in the fourth inning, on a ground-rule double, and a pair of singles as they led DWU 6-3.
- The Tigers battled back as Aubrey Garbarek hit a tipple to left center allowing Adriana Thomason and Peyton Bagley to score, cutting the Aquinas lead to 6-5.
- AQ jumped on DWU in the fifth putting up five runs on three hits for the 11-5 lead.
- Dakota Wesleyan attempted to come back in the sixth inning putting up two runs as Thomason scored on a throwing error by the shortstop and Garbarek tallied a run on a wild pitch.
- The Tigers allowed two more AQ runs in the top of the seventh before they tallied one run in the bottom of the inning as Aquinas grabbed the win 13-8.
- Tianna Boone was 1-for-3 in game one with one run, one RBI, one walk, and a double
- Grossi was 2-for-4 with one run, one RBI, and a stolen base.
- Nora Nelson was 3-for-4 with a double.
- Burke was 2-for-5, with one run, one RBI, and two stolen bases.
- Tava Boone collected the loss tossing four innings allowing 10 hits, eight runs, and striking out three.
- Burke pitched three innings allowing four hits, five runs, and striking out two.
Game Two
- William Penn was first to light up the score board in game two after a single to center field for the 1-0 lead.
- WP tallied another run in the second inning on a sacfly to center field for the 2-0 lead over the Tigers.
- After scoreless third and fourth innings by both the Tigers and William Penn, Tianna Boone went long to dead center for the first DWU run of the game, as WP lead 2-1.
- William Penn put another run up in the bottom of the fifth inning pushing their lead back to 3-1.
- The final run of the game for either team came off the bats of DWU as Garbarek reached on a double before McElveny hit a single allowing Garbarek to score still down by one 3-2.

Dakota Wesleyan will take on St. Francis and Dickinson State tomorrow afternoon. The Tigers will take the field at 3:30 p.m. against St. Francis then at 5:45 p.m. DWU will take on Dickinson State.
