Women’s basketball returns home against (RV) Midland Saturday

The Tigers and Warriors square off for the first time this season as both teams look to get back on track with a win. DWU is looking to end a three-game skid, while Midland has lost two of their last three games.
Leading the way for the Tigers is junior guard Kaylee Kirk (Balaton, Minn.) as she averages 5.6 assists and 3.3 steals per contest. She ranks 18th in the nation in assists per game and is 20th nationally with 39 assists on the season. Freshman guard Haidyn Pitsch (Prior Lake, Minn.) also guides the Tigers as she leads the team with 14.4 points per game.
As a team, the Tigers check in at 24th in the NAIA in total rebound defense at 33.4 and are 28th in the country with 17 assists per outing.
Leading the way for their counterpart is Makenna Sullivan who paces the Warriors. She ranks top-10 nationally in three categories as she is fifth with 121 rebounds on the year, eighth with 32 steals on the season and eighth with 48 assists throughout the season.
Midland kicked off the season winning four-straight games before losing to Dordt University. The Warriors followed the loss up with four more wins in a row before losing two of their past three games. Despite the recent skid, Midland is receiving votes in the latest NAIA poll.
Offense is the name of the game for Midland as they rank top-10 nationally in four various offensive categories. The categories include ranking third in total offensive rebounds (544), fourth in 3-point field goals made (112), seventh in scoring offense (909) and eighth in total assists (181).
Saturday's matchup is the 38th meeting all-time in women's basketball as DWU boasts a 32-5 record in the series. DWU has reeled off eight-straight wins in the series, as the last loss the Tigers suffered to Midland was in 2015 in a 10-point road defeat.
