Lamer and Jenkins lead DWU at Concordia Classic

SEWARD, Neb. – It was seniors Kamber Lamer (Hartford, S.D.) and Tyson Jenkins (Clark, S.D.) who led the way for the Dakota Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field teams Thursday and Friday at the Concordia Classic in Seward, Neb.

 Lamer took first in the Pentathlon with a school record, 3,699 points. She currently leads the NAIA in the event and ranks 13^th across all collegiate divisions. In the 60-meter hurdles she took first with a time of 9.14 seconds, which also set a school record. In the high jump, she took first again with a leap of 5-6 feet, tying a school record and breaking a Concordia Fieldhouse record. Lamer tallied a toss of 34-10.25 in the shot put, while recording a time of 2:36 minutes in the 800-meter run. She also recorded a leap of 19-2.5 in the long jump, setting a school record and placing third in the NAIA.

 Jenkins competed in the shot put and weight throw. In the shot put, he took first place with a throw of 56-1.75, which ranks third in the country. He took third in the weight throw with a mark of 56-6, which broke a school record and helped him automatically qualify for the national meet.

 In the high jump, Jared Rabenberg (Britton, S.D.) won the meet with a mark of 6-7.5, while Lia GuiGui (Rapid City, S.D.) took third with a jump of 5-3.

 Rabenberg took fifth in the long jump following a mark of 22-0.75, moving him to sixth on the DWU all-time list. Lydia Gerber (Canton, S.D.) took fifth at the meet with a leap of 17-2, moving her to fourth in school history.

 The Tigers took fourth, fifth and sixth place in the triple jump as Gerber placed fourth with a mark of 36-3. Claire Stoller (Madison, S.D.) took fifth with a leap of 36-1.5 and Kristen Longville (Lake Preston, S.D.) took sixth with a jump of 34-11.25.

 Kelsie King (Mission Viejo, Calif.) won the 5,000-meter run with a time of 20:30.05, as Bryce Blank (Rapid City, S.D.) took seventh in 17:30.

 In the 800-meter run, Samantha Schuyler (Winner, S.D.) came in third place with a time of 2:29.33, while Mckenna Rogers (Saint Michael, Minn.) took seventh in :31.73.

 On the men's side of the 800-meter run, Brendan Langbehn (Lennox, S.D.) took fifth in 2:03.46 and Rex Schlicht (Woonsocket, S.D.) came in sixth place with a time of 2:03.73.

 Freshman Sage Pulse (Kimball, S.D.) took fifth in the 400-meter dash in 1:03.11, putting her eighth in the DWU record books. Nate Rupprecht (Bennington, Neb.) finished the Heptathlon with a final score of 3,426, good for third all-time in DWU history.

 Mikaela Stofferahn (Dell Rapids, S.D.) provisionally qualified for the national meet in the shot put following a toss of 43-5.25. The mark is also a school record. Madison Witte (Huron, S.D.) notched a throw of 39-1, putting her at fifth on the DWU all-time list.

 On the men's side, Matthew Campbell (Gregory, S.D.) notched a mark of 54-10.25 in the shot put, placing him third in the conference and fifth on the DWU all-time list. In the weight throw, Campbell automatically qualified for the national meet with a throw of 56-1.25, good for second on the DWU all-time list.

 Calob Jones (Aberdeen, S.D.) provisionally qualified for the national meet in the shot put with a throw of 50-0. The mark placed Jones sixth of the DWU all-time list.

 The Tigers compete next at the DWU Open on Saturday in Mitchell, S.D.
