Lamer sets GPAC record as Tigers shine at GPAC Championships

YANKTON, S.D. – It was a record-setting day for senior Kamber Lamer (Hartford, S.D.) as she broke the Great Plains Athletic Conference record for the heptathlon and was named the GPAC Women's Field Athlete of the Meet. The senior finished the event with 5,017 points at the GPAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships Friday and Saturday in Yankton, S.D.

 Overall, DWU was tabbed with 18 All-GPAC Team members, as Lamer led the way with four All-GPAC honors. In order to be named to the All-Conference Team, an athlete must finish inside the top eight spots of their respective events.

 Lamer took first place in the 200-meter dash, 100-meter hurdles, long jump and javelin throw in the events of the heptathlon. She finished with a time of 25.34 seconds in the 200-meter dash, 14.28 in the 100-meter hurdles, and a mark of 17-11.5 feet in the long jump and 124-03 in the javelin throw.

 In the other events of the heptathlon, Lamer took second in the high jump with a leap of 5-2.25, third in the shot put with a toss of 35-8.5 and fifth in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:37.17 minutes. Overall, Lamer won the heptathlon and currently leads the nation in the event with the point total of 5,017 points.

 In the open 100-meter hurdles, Lamer set a personal record and an automatic qualifying time with a first-place finish of 14.26. She also took fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.76.

 In the triple jump, Lamer took second following a jump of 38-7.75. Kristen Longville (Lake Preston, S.D.) finished with a sixth-place mark with a leap of 36-0.25, while Claire Stoller (Madison, S.D.) took 10^th with a mark of 35-2.5.

 Mikaela Stofferahn (Dell Rapids, S.D.) hit an 'A' Standard in the discus with a throw of 144-04, good for third place. She also took fifth in the shot put with a toss of 43-3, as Madison Witte (Huron, S.D.) took 10^th with a mark of 40-0.75.

 On the men's side, Tyson Jenkins (Clark, S.D.) took second in the shot put with a toss of 54-5.25, good for an automatic qualifying mark. Matthew Campbell (Gregory, S.D.) followed up with a third-place finish after a mark of 54-0. Calob Jones (Aberdeen, S.D.) finished in eighth with a throw of 48-7.5, while Caden Milmine (Buffalo, Wyo.) took ninth with a throw of 47-7.75. Campbell followed up his shot put with a fourth-place finish in the discus with a toss of 160-04.

 In the hammer throw, Jenkins took fifth with a throw of 183-04, while Campbell finished in eighth place with a mark of 177-01.

 Jared Rabenberg (Britton, S.D.) finished with a third-place mark in the high jump following a leap of 6-3.5 and took fifth in the long jump with a mark of 22-2.25. In the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase, Samantha Schuyler (Winner, S.D.) came in second place with a time of 11:58.40.

 Mckenna Rogers (Saint Michael, Minn.) and Schuyler took eighth and 10^th in the 1,500-meter run with times of 5:01.50 and 5:06.62, respectively. Kelsie King (Mission Viejo, Calif.) took 12^th in the 10,000-meter run following a time of 42:33.21, as Alyssa Weidler (Sioux Falls, S.D.) took 11^th in the long jump with a leap of 16-9.25.

 Rex Schlicht (Woonsocket, S.D.) competed in the men's 400-meter hurdles and came in 10^th place with a time of 57.46. Nate Rupprecht (Bennington, Neb.) participated in the decathlon as he finished the event in seventh with a point-total of 4,931. In the events of the decathlon, he took second in the shot put, third in the high jump, fifth in the 400-meter dash, sixth in the discus and javelin and seventh in the 100-meter dash, long jump and 110-meter hurdles.

 The Tigers compete at the Concordia Twilight Meet on Friday in Seward, Neb.
