Tiger Athletics Weekly: November 3rd - 9th

MITCHELL, S.D. — Dakota Wesleyan fall sports have another exciting week of competition ahead and kick off the beginning of the winter season. The Tigers will host several home events this week, featuring Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball, and Men's Wrestling.

Monday, November 4th

Men's Golf at Forestorm Invitational 

Buckeye, Ariz. | 10:00 AM

Quick Notes:

  • The Tigers are coming off a great finish at the Mustang Derby, where Peyton Bettcher placed in the top 10 of the tournament.
  • Dakota Wesleyan will be down in Arizona for a three-day tournament. 

 

Tuesday, November 4th

(9) Women's Basketball vs Bismarck State

Mitchell, S.D. | 6:00 PM

Quick Notes 

  • This will be the home and season opener for the No. 9 DWU Tigers as they host the Bismarck State Mystics, who are a newly joined NAIA Member. 
  • The Tigers played one exhibition game against Division I Drake at the Knapp Center, which helped them prepare for the start of their highly competitive schedule. 

 

Women's Soccer at Hastings

Hastings, Neb. | 7:30 PM 

Quick Notes:

  • The Tigers are traveling to Hastings for the first round of the GPAC Tournament. The drought was broken, as it had not been since 2021.
  • In the regular season, the Tigers and the Broncos tied at Lloyd Wilson Stadium. 

 

(RV) Women's Volleyball at Briar Cliff

Sioux City, Iowa | 7:30 PM 

Quick Notes: 

  • Coming off a convincing win over (RV) Dordt, it also marked Coach Wilber's 200th win as a Tiger, solidifying here legacy here at Dakota Wesleyan.
  • This game against Briar Cliff is a must-win, as it has major implications for postseason play matchups

 

Men's Basketball vs Bismarck State

Quick Notes:

  • The Tigers are sitting at 1-0 as they defeated Heart Conference member, the Grand View Vikings, last week.
  • Randy Rosenquist Jr. was Blarney's Sports Bar and Grill player of the game with 20 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 5 steals.

  • This marks the home opener for the Dakota Wesleyan Men's Wrestling.
  • The Tigers are coming back from Park City, Kan., with some wins over National Competion. 

 

Women's Wrestling at Warrior Open

Quick Notes:

  • This will be the first competition for the Tigers.
  • With a handful of returners and notable newcomers, the Tigers are looking to have a great season.

Football vs Midland

Quick Notes:

  • Dakota Wesleyan had back-to-back GPAC offensive player of the week. Notably, they were both quarterback, with Jed Jension winning it last week with their win over Waldorf and Connor Drake garnering it with the walkoff touch win over Mount Marty to solidify the win for the Dakota Railroad Rivalry Trophy down in Yankton. Along with Drake, Cody Winslow was tabbed GPAC Defensive Player of the Week in his efforts with the win over the Lancers. 
  • The Tigers are sitting on a two-game win streak, where they are looking to extend their streak to three as they host the Midland Warriors.
