DWU baseball splits with Concordia
MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University baseball team split a pair of Great Plains Athletic Conference games as they hosted Concordia University. Concordia won Game One 6-0, and DWU won Game Two 6-5, Saturday afternoon for Senior Day at Cadwell Park in Mitchell, S.D.

MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University baseball team split a pair of Great Plains Athletic Conference games as they hosted Concordia University. Concordia won Game One 6-0, and DWU won Game Two 6-5, Saturday afternoon for Senior Day at Cadwell Park in Mitchell, S.D.
In Game One, the Bulldogs (30-19, 19-9 GPAC) put up three runs in the third inning, two in the fifth and one in the seventh. The Tigers (17-29, 12-16 GPAC) offense could only muster three hits in the first game.
Peyton Price (Norfolk, Neb.) went 1-for-2 while Sean Riley (Driggs, Idaho) and Reed Harter (Colome, S.D.) each finished 1-for-3. Dillon Stadlman (Parkston, S.D.) took the loss after allowing three earned runs on five hits and three strikeouts in three innings. Nathen Smith (Altona, Manitoba, Canada) pitched four innings and allowed two earned runs while striking out two batters.
The offense picked up the pace in Game Two as they added three runs in the first inning after Price singled to center field bringing home two runs. The Tigers tallied another run in the fifth and the go-ahead run in the eighth inning as Harter singled into left field bringing home the game-winning run.
Harter went 3-for-5 with two RBIs, Price went 1-for-5 with two RBIs while Tyler Waddle (Huron, S.D.) finished 3-for-4. Steven Sagasty (Pacifica, Calif.) started on the mound and struck out four batters and allowed three earned runs on six hits. Brody Kunzmann (Sioux Falls, S.D.) picked up the win after pitching one inning and walking one.
The Tigers are back in action on Thursday in the GPAC Tournament with the opponent and time yet to be determined.
