Reichmuth named Gold Glove Pitcher as five members tabbed to All-GPAC Team
MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University baseball team finished the 2018 season with five members being named to the All-GPAC Team and one member named to the Gold Glove Team on Thursday.
MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University baseball team finished the 2018 season with five members being named to the All-GPAC Team and one member named to the Gold Glove Team on Thursday.
Sophomore Reed Harter (Colome, S.D.) was the lone member named to the All-GPAC Second Team. Harter led the team with a .328 batting average and in stolen bases with 15 on the season. He started every game for the Tigers at second base where he finished with a fielding percentage of .926. Batting, Harter finished with 43 hits, four doubles, a triple, a homerun and 13 RBIs. He recorded a season-high three hits and two RBIs against Briar Cliff University on March 22.
Gavin Reichmuth (Chandler, Ariz.) was one of three pitchers named to the All-GPAC Honorable Mention Team. Along with being named to the Honorable Mention team, Reichmuth was also honored as the pitcher of the 12th annual GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Baseball Gold Glove Team. Each defensive position is filled by selecting the player with the highest fielding percentage at each position as a Gold Glove Team member. Reichmuth finished the season with a fielding percentage of 1.000 with 14 assists. He finished with a pitching record of 5-4 after pitching 52 and two-third innings, struck out 15 batters and led the team with an ERA of 4.61.
At third base, Wes Anderson (Duluth, Minn.) was named All-GPAC Honorable Mention. In his first season with the Tigers, Anderson finished second on the team with a .296 batting average, with 37 hits, nine doubles, one triple, three homeruns, 20 RBIs and 31 runs scored. Anderson also led the team with a slugging percentage of .456. He tallied a fielding percentage of .887 with 37 putouts on the season.
Two other pitchers named to the All-GPAC Honorable Mention Team were Dominique Boerger (Milbank, S.D.) who was honored as a starting pitcher and Dillon Stadlman (Parkston, S.D.) who was tabbed as a relief pitcher.
Boerger finished his sophomore season with an ERA of 4.88 and struck out 41 batters in 55 and one-third innings pitched. He finished the season ranked 14th in the NAIA in total walks allowed with 10 and ranked 27th nationally in walks allowed per nine innings with 1.6. In just two seasons, Boerger has a career ERA of 4.21 and struck out 73 batters. In his third season with the Tigers, Stadlman pitched 35 innings, struck out 23 batters and tallied an ERA of 2.83. He notched a season-high four strikeouts against Briar Cliff and Northwestern College this season, as well as three putouts against Northwestern.
