Neugebauer highlights DWU football All-GPAC Team
MITCHELL, S.D. – Mitchell native Spencer Neugebauer led the way for the Dakota Wesleyan University football team as he was named to the All-Conference Team for special teams and receiver, as DWU finished with six All-Conference players, the Great Plains Athletic Conference announced Tuesday.
MITCHELL, S.D. – Mitchell native Spencer Neugebauer led the way for the Dakota Wesleyan University football team as he was named to the All-Conference Team for special teams and receiver, as DWU finished with six All-Conference players, the Great Plains Athletic Conference announced Tuesday.
Neugebauer was tabbed to the All-GPAC First Team as a kick return specialist, while being selected to the All-GPAC Second Team as a receiver.
As a kick returner, Neugebauer finished with 28 returns for 713 yards, averaging 25.5 yards per return with a long of 86 yards. As a receiver, he led the team with 487 receiving yards on 33 receptions and two touchdowns. He averaged 14.8 yards per reception and 44.3 yards per game. Neugebauer led the team in all-purpose yards with 1,388 total yards and 126.2 total yards per game, good for fourth in the conference.
Tyler Wagner (Webster, S.D.) was the lone Tiger to be selected to the All-GPAC Second Team defense. Wagner finished second on the team with 67 total tackles, including 34 solo tackles. He also recorded 11.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. Wagner ranked 11th in the conference in tackles for loss and 15th in tackles for loss per game.
Daniel Libolt (Chambers, Neb.), Alan Murtic (Phoenix, Ariz.) and Cody Reichelt (Mitchell, S.D.) were each named to the All-GPAC Honorable Mention Team.
Libolt led the team with 38 receptions, as he finished with 362 receiving yards. He averaged 9.5 yards per catch, 45.3 yards per game and tallied a receiving touchdown. He also finished with 18 kick returns for 327 yards and eight punt returns for 91 yards.
Murtic was a leader on the defensive line in his senior season. He played in all 11 games, while tallying 35 total tackles and 18 solo tackles. He notched 11 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks on the season. Murtic finished 14th in the conference in sacks per game and 12th in total sacks on the season.
In his junior campaign, Reichelt led the defense with 84 total tackles and 43 solo tackles. He led the team with 15.5 tackles for loss and finished second on the team with three sacks. Reichelt also led the team with three interceptions on the year and one fumble forced and a fumble recovery. Reichelt finished tied for seventh in the conference for interceptions and was seventh in tackles per game in the GPAC. He also ranked fourth in the conference in tackles for loss and tackles for loss per game.
The Tigers finished the season with an overall record of 3-8 after winning their final two games of the season.
