Coach Riewer brings a wealth of international playing experience and collegiate coaching expertise to the Dakota Wesleyan University men's basketball program, joining the Tigers as an assistant coach for the 2025–26 season.
A proud product of Minnesota's grassroots basketball system, Coach Riewer was a key figure in the MN Comets AAU program from 2009 to 2024, developing and mentoring talent across all levels.
His professional basketball journey began in Europe, launching his career with the Oettinger Rockets in Germany’s Pro A league during the 2015–16 season. He went on to play for BK NH Ostrava in the Czech Republic (2016–17), the Central District Lions in Australia’s NBL1 (2018–19), and KK Škrljevo in Croatia’s top-tier Premijer Liga during the 2019–20 season. His time abroad gave him a global perspective on the game, playing under a wide range of systems and styles.
Transitioning to coaching in 2017, Coach Riewer served as an assistant men's basketball coach at Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSUM), where he played a key role in player development and game strategy.
At Minnesota State University Moorhead, Riewer was the 2014-15 NSIC Player of the Year and an NCAA DII All-American. Riewer, who still owns the second-best career free-throw percentage in the NCAA (94%), was coached by Wieck, an assistant coach, over his senior season in 2024-15.
