MSU-Northern hands DWU women first loss of season

The Tigers held a two-point lead at the half, but were outscored 37-26 in the second and lost 59-50 on the first day of the event and the second of three games for DWU in Montana over the weekend.
The Tigers shot 33 percent, 19-of-56 from the field, while making 4-of-21 shots from behind the three-point line in the loss.
DWU was led by senior forward Katie Johnson (Mead, Neb.) with a team-high 11 points and six rebounds. Johnson was 5-of-12 shooting from the field. Sophomore forward Erica Herrold (Dimock, S.D.) and sophomore forward Kristen Sabers (Mitchell, S.D.) each added eight points. Sabers finished with a team-high seven rebounds off the bench.
The Tigers were outrebounded 38-32, while MSU-N shot 19-of-49 from the field and made 11 more free throws than DWU.
MSU-N was led by A'Jha Edwards with a game-high 15 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double, while Molly Kreycik added 13 points off the bench.
The Tigers (5-1) play on the final day of their road trip in Montana against the Holiday Inn Classic host Great Falls University at noon Sunday.
