Chargers shake off Tigers in five-set thriller

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Down by two sets, the Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball team orchestrated its best comeback effort of the season, falling in five sets to Briar Cliff University in a Great Plains Athletic Conference match up Wednesday in Sioux City, Iowa.

The Chargers cruised to victory in the first two sets, 25-18 and 25-12, but the Tigers didn't go down without a fight. In set three, DWU took a 12-8 lead and never looked back defeating the Chargers 25-22 to win their first set of the contest. In the fourth set, the Tigers came racing back by being down as much as three points to even the score at 16-16. A kill by Lauren Tadlock (Rapid City, S.D.) and Dana Misiaszek (Mitchell, S.D.) is all it took as the Tigers rallied for a 26-24 victory. BCU took set five by storm to defeat DWU 15-9.

Tadlock led the Tiger offense with 19 kills and 12 digs, good for a double-double. Misiaszek added seven kills and 18 digs, while Katie Vetch (Rapid City, S.D.) chipped in six kills and five block assists. Taylor Spence (North Branch, Minn.) tallied 30 digs to lead DWU.

The Tigers (12-8, 2-6 GPAC) return home, welcoming No. 1 Midland University for a GPAC contest at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Christen Athletic Center on the campus of DWU in Mitchell, S.D.
