Tiger volleyball ends season on high note

OMAHA, Neb. – The Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball team ended its season in the winning column in a highly-competitive Great Plains Athletic Conference. DWU (18-14, 4-12 GPAC) defeated College of Saint Mary (7-17, 3-13 GPAC) in four sets on Saturday in Omaha, Neb.

  Set scores were 25-21, 27-25, 17-25 and 25-20 in favor of the Tigers.

 DWU cruised over the Flames in the first two sets, before dropping the third. The Tigers rallied to take the final set in route to a four-set victory.

 Senior Lauren Tadlock (Rapid City, S.D.) recorded 23 kills and 17 digs, good for double-double. Tadlock finishes her decorative Tiger career with 1,327 kills and 849 digs. She now sits in third place on the DWU all-time career kills list and 12th on the all-time career digs list.

 Taylor Spence (North Branch, Minn.) added 30 digs in the victory over the Flames. Spence finishes her four-year career with 591 kills and 1,637 digs. Spence now sits in fifth place on the DWU all-time digs list and was just three digs shy of the single-season record.

 Dana Misiaszek (Mitchell, S.D.) tallied 11 kills and 18 digs, good for a double-double, finishing her career with 731 kills and 476 digs. Michelle Van Epps (Lakefield, Minn.) pitched in 41 assists, putting her in third place on the DWU all-time career assists list with 3,263.

 DWU graduates seven seniors, while welcoming five returners back for 2017. Head Coach Lindsay Wilber has signed 13 newcomers for the 2017 class thus far.

 The Tigers finished with a winning record for the first time since 1993.
