CARPENTER EARNS ATHLETE OF THE WEEK HONORS
The Dakota Wesleyan University Tiger Athlete of the Week to start the 2021-22 athletic season is Cade Carpenter it was announced by the DWU athletic department Tuesday.
Carpenter competed in the Mount Marty Invitational, where he placed first individually and helped men's golf reach a first-place team finish. On his way to an individual victory, Carpenter broke the 18-hole individual score record previously held by Ryan Huber. Huber back in 1996 shot a 65 at the Sandy Hollow Golf Course in Sioux Center, Iowa. Carpenter broke the 24-year-old record shooting a 64 on day two of the invitational.
Carpenter also helped the men's golf squad break the team 18-hole record by one stroke. The 2016 men's golf squad composed of Thomas Hogg, Anthony Husher, Russell Pick (current head golf coach), Tyler Burr, and Elliot Banks set the record at Wild Horse Golf Course in Gothenburg, Neb. Men's golf shot a 276 on day two at the Mount Marty Invitational to break the record.
