DWU FOOTBALL LANDON RUESINK NAMED GPAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK AND TIGER OF THE WEEK
Mitchell, S.D. – The Tiger-of-the-Week and GPAC Defensive Player-of-the-Week goes to sophomore cornerback, Landon Ruesink. Ruesink played a pivotal part in the Tigers 17-10 comeback win over Doane University in the annual 'Battle of the Tigers'. Ruesink came up with a clutch pick six to go along with a fumble recovery and four total tackles.
Four minutes into the fourth quarter, Ruesink stepped in front of a Doane pass along the DWU sideline and returned it 41 yards to the house to bring the Tigers within one. The Tigers would go on to win 17-10 completing a 10-point comeback and throwing up 17 unanswered points in the fourth quarter. Ruesink pick six was the turning point in the game and completely flipped the momentum to the DWU side. This was Landon's first career interception. Ruesink's season totals now sit at 17 total tackles, interception, and fumble recovery.
The Tigers next play at home against Midland (3-0) for Blue and White Days Saturday, September 16 with kickoff set for 2 p.m.

Defensive back Landon Ruesink of Dakota Wesleyan University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Defensive Player-of-the-Week. Ruesink, a sophomore, from Dell Rapids, South Dakota, had his fingerprints all over a 17-10 comeback win over Doane with his 41-yard pick six. In addition to his interception, he also recovered a fumble and added four tackles. The Tigers host Midland on September 16 for a homecoming game. Kick off will be at 2 pm.
