Panec qualifies for nationals, Tigers compete at GPAC Indoor Championships

Junior Jeremiah Panec (Keenesaw, Neb.) qualified for the NAIA Indoor National Championships, beginning on March 2 in Johnson City, Tenn. Panec finished third out of 17 runners in the 1000-meter run with a time of 2:32.96, while breaking his own school record of 2:34.68.
Also on the men's side, Rex Schlicht (Woonsocket, S.D.) brought home an 11-th-place finish in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:25.53. Fellow freshman Anthony Fontenot (Stephan, S.D.) competed in the 400-meter dash and finished with a time of 54.49, good for 16th-place.
Jon Harmening (Jackson, Minn.) competed in the triple jump and finished with a leap of 42-07.50 (12.99-meters), good for 10th-place. Jared Rabenberg (Britton, S.D.) also competed in the triple jump and secured a 12th-place finish with a leap of 41-11.50 (12.79-meters). Rabenberg took part in the high jump and finished fourth with a jump of 6-05 (1.96-meters). Senior Gabe Dirksen (Lead, S.D.) finished eighth in the heptathlon with a final score of 4,131.
For the DWU women, freshman Alyssa Weidler (Sioux Falls, S.D.) finished in sixth place in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.43. She also competed in the long jump and finished sixth with a jump of 17-01.50 (5.22-meters).
Shailhyn Schweigert (Burke, S.D.) came home with a 13th-place finish in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:46.82. Sophomore Kristen Longville (Lake Preston, S.D.) took sixth in the triple jump with a leap of 35-00.25 (10.67-meters).
Kamberlyn Lamer (Hartford, S.D.) took part in the pentathlon and finished first in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.69, while breaking the GPAC record in that event. She also took fourth in the long jump with a leap of 16-03.75 (4.97-meters), 10th in the shot put with a toss of 30-03.50 (9.23-meters), while placing 14th with a score of 2,277.
The outdoor portion begins on March 25 at the Wildcat Classic in Wayne, Neb.
