In winter sports, DWU had five athletes from three different sports, including women's basketball, men's basketball and wrestling earn the honor. In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.
The DWU men's basketball team was led by senior Trae Bergh (Crooks, S.D.), who was named to the list for the second time. Bergh was also named a CoSIDA Academic All-American last month. Gabby Frykbo (Sodertalje, Sweden) of the women's basketball team was tabbed with her first honor.
The Tiger wrestling team saw three members named to the prestigious list. Seniors Caleb Heiberger (Hartford, S.D.), Jade Hoisington (Britton, S.D.) and junior Trevor Peter (Dell Rapids, S.D.) were all named to the list. It is Heiberger's second time being on the list, while Hoisington and Peter were named for the first time in their careers.
