Tiger Cross Country Opens Season at Augustana Twilight

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University cross country men and women opened their season at the Augustana College Twilight Meet Friday in Sioux Falls, S.D.
The meet was the first for DWU Head Coach Derik Fossum, who took over the program early in 2015 along with the Tiger track and field teams.
For the Tiger women, senior Skylar Forgey (Colome, S.D.) led the way finishing in 76th with a time of 19:21.10 in the 5k race. Freshman Rachel Buxcel (Murdo, S.D.) finished the event in 19:28.90 for an 85th-place finish in her DWU debut.
Rounding out the top three for the DWU women was freshman Kelsie King (Mission Viejo, Calif.) coming in at 94th in 19:40.80 in her first race as a Tiger. The Tiger women finished 16th out of a 20-team field.
On the men's side sophomore Lane Tibbs (Kenesaw, Neb.) lead the way with a 66th-place finish in the four-mile race with a time of 20:57.57. Also for the Tiger men, sophomore Jeremiah Panec finished in the top 100 with a time of 21:24.58. The Tigers did not qualify a team score.
The Tiger cross country teams are set to run next at the Herb Blakely Invitational hosted by Dakota State University next Saturday in Madison, S.D.
