Tiger cross country runs at Herb Blakely Invite
MADISON, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University men and women’s cross country teams were back in action Saturday at the Herb Blakely Invitational hosted by Dakota State University.
MADISON, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University men and women's cross country teams were back in action Saturday at the Herb Blakely Invitational hosted by Dakota State University.
The Tiger men competed on an 8k course, while the women ran the 5k course at Madison Country Club in Madison, S.D.
For the DWU men, sophomore Lane Tibbs (Kenesaw, Neb.) was once again the top finisher for the Tigers, taking 16th in a time of 27:30.
Finishing not far behind Tibbs was sophomore Jeremiah Panec (Kenesaw, Neb.) placing 19th with a 27:41. The men did not field a team large enough for a team score. Northwestern College edged Dordt College for the team title.
The DWU women finished seventh in the meet with a score of 152, while Dordt took the team title with a 26.
Senior Skylar Forgery (Colome, S.D.) lead the way for the Tiger women. Forgery finished in 19th place with a time of 20:22. Freshman Rachel Buxcel (Murdo, S.D.) and Kelsie King (Mission Viejo, Calif.) continue to add to the Tiger roster. Buxcel had a 28th-place finish in 21:09, while King finished in 35th with a 21:28.
The Tiger cross country teams will run next at the Dean White Invitational hosted by Doane College on September 26.
