Tigers open new year with GPAC matchup at Doane

DWU is coming off a loss at Dordt University on Thursday by a score of 70-60. The loss put a halt to a two-game win streak for the Tigers after defeating Midland University and Hastings College earlier in December.
DWU and Doane squared off at the Corn Palace on Dec. 6 with the Tigers of Dakota Wesleyan coming away with the 77-59 victory. With the win, the Blue and Gray hold a 25-12 advantage in the all-time series played over Doane.
Haidyn Pitsch (Prior Lake, Minn.) continues to lead the team in scoring as she averages 13.8 points per outing. Fellow guard Kaylee Kirk (Balaton, Minn.) also paces the Tigers as she leads the squad in 5.2 assists and 2.7 steals per game. Kirk also checks in at seventh nationally with 52 assists on the season.
The Tigers still rank inside the top-10 nationally in total blocks on the season as they have accumulated 42 total blocks.
For the Tigers of Doane, this will be their first game since Dec. 19 when they fell to (RV) Briar Cliff University, 69-68. They enter today's contest with a 4-9 record overall with their most recent victory coming at Mount Marty University.
Haylee Heits leads the team with 15 points and 0.9 blocks per game. She ranks 19th in the NAIA in total scoring with 195 points this season. As a team, the Tigers rank 13th in the country in scoring offense with 927 points scored this season.
