MITCHELL, S.D. – The 2020 year is starting strong for the Dakota Wesleyan University men's soccer as they added three recruits for the spring semester. Nicolas Morillo, Ndrin Maloku and Luis Lescure will join the DWU men's soccer program in January. Lucas Paixao will be joining the team in the fall. The four will look to bring a wealth of experience from both the college and international ranks.
Morillo comes to DWU from Bogota, Colombia and plays an attacking role as both a center forward and winger. His experiences include playing for clubs such as Atletico Colombia, Barranquilla FC, Pachuca (USA) and Junior Club.
"We are excited about Nico as he will contribute his dynamism to the team's attack," head men's soccer coach Jose Lopez said. "We are hopeful that he will have a breakout season in his freshman year."
Maloku is a center forward from Krefeld, Germany where he played for teams such as KFC Uerdingen 05, VfR Fischen, TSV Meerbusch and Teutonia St. Tonis. Ndrin has an eye for goal, averaging a goal or assist every 37 minutes, a stat he will be looking to continue at DWU.
"Ndrin is a natural goal scorer. He is skilled with both feet and can finish with just about anything. We are excited to have him join the team and bolster our attack," Lopez commented.
Lescure is from Panama City, Panama and will look to add depth to the Tiger midfield. Luis will be joining DWU having played a season at the University of Southwest in New Mexico. Prior to his time at the University of Southwest, Lescure spent two years at Coffeyville College in Kansas where he played in 31 games, recording one goal and one assist.
"Luis will add some competition to the midfield position as he brings lots of experience. We are excited to see what he can do," Lopez said.
Paixao is a midfielder from Sao Paulo, Brazil where his father introduced him to soccer at a young age. In Brazil, Paixao played with Esportivo da Penha. Most recently, he spent the last two years as a standout player for Coastal Bend College in Texas.
"Lucas is a standout in both the classroom and the field. He is someone that gelled with the coaching staff and team values immediately and will make great contributions when he joins the team in the fall," Lopez mentioned.
These four names are just the start of the 2020 recruiting class with more names already joining them in the fall. Stay tuned for further updates and news regarding Dakota Wesleyan men's soccer.
