DWU soccer lands four players on All-GPAC list
Mitchell, S.D.- The Dakota Wesleyan University men’s and women’s soccer teams each landed two players on the All-GPAC Team, it was announced Monday by the conference.
Mitchell, S.D.- The Dakota Wesleyan University men's and women's soccer teams each landed two players on the All-GPAC Team, it was announced Monday by the conference.
For the women's team, sophomore Josephine Bardsley (Tea, S.D.) earned All-GPAC Second Team honors, while senior Jocelyn Behm (Sioux Falls, S.D.) received All-GPAC Honorable Mention honors.
As for the men's team, two freshmen, Rafael Medrano (Phoenix, Ariz.) and Kaio Dantas (Matinho Campos, Brazil), were named All-GPAC Honorable Mention.
Bardsley capped off a phenomenal sophomore season at midfield in which she appeared in 14 games, tallying nine goals and averaged 0.64 goals per contest. She finished seventh in the GPAC in total goals, as well as averaging 1.43 points per game, which was good for fifth in the GPAC in points per game. She recorded her best game of the season against NCAA Division II foe Black Hills State University, tallying two goals on four shots and one assist.
Behm was a key piece for the Tigers in her senior season, starting in 16 games. She was a star defender for DWU but found the back of the net multiple times throughout the season. She tallied five goals on 23 shots, while recording one assist on the year.
For the men's soccer team, two freshmen received conference recognition as Medrano and Dantas both earned Honorable Mention honors. Medrano started in 16 games for the Tigers, recording three goals on 17 shots, and two assists.
Dantas started in all 16 games for the Tigers at center back. He was a key part of the DWU defense and recorded one shot on goal.
The men finished the 2019 season with an overall record of 3-10-3, while the women recorded a record of 5-10-1.
