MEN’S WRESTLING KEEP EIGHT ALIVE FOR DAY-2 OF GPAC WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIP
Seward, Neb. –
Eight Tigers stayed alive in the GPAC Men's Wrestling Championship this afternoon. Of the seven Tigers, six of them are heading to the semi finals in their respected weight class. DWU sits in third place as a team with 51 total points behind Morningside in second and Doane in first. Zachary Zitek, Aric Williams, Kaleb Bigelow, Lane Miller, Tyson Johnson, and Trevion Sample lead the way for the Tigers as they all advance to the semifinal rounds tomorrow. The six combined for nine wins for the Tigers.

125 – Will Farren 0-2
Farren was defeated in his first round by fall versus a Hastings wrestler. In his second round, Farren was pinned to the mat at the 4:10 mark.
125 – Kipp Cordes 0-2
In his first post-season wrestling match Cordes was pinned to the mat late in the third period. Cordes would lose his second match by major decision 13-9 against a Jimmie.
133 – Temka Natsagdorj 0-1
Temka was defeated in the quarterfinal round of the Championship bracket after receiving a first round bye. In the first match, Temka was sent to the consolation bracket via major decision. Natsagdorj advances to tomorrow's matches after receiving a pair of byes.
141 – Zachary Zitek 2-0
Zitek won his first two matches with a pin over a Hastings Bronco just before the two-minute mark. In the next bout Zitek won by major decision (13-9) and moves onto the semi-finals tomorrow.
141 – Aric Williams 2-0
The grad senior picked up two big wins to advance to the semis tomorrow. Williams defeated his Northwestern opponent 8-2 to win by decision, then pinned his next opponent to the mat for a fall victory. Williams moves onto the semifinals for the Tigers.
149 – Zach Kolbe 0-1
Kolbe received a pair of byes to stay alive in the consolation bracket. In his one face off of the day, he was defeated by technical fall.
157 – Tyson Johnson 1-0
Johnson defeated his single opponent of the day by decision (10-6) to move onto the semifinals.
165 – Kaleb Bigelow 1-0
Add another win to Bigelow's record as he won his only match of the day against a Jamestown wrestler via pin at the 2:19 mark. Bigelow advances to the semis.
174 – Lane Miller 1-0
Miller received a first round bye to start his playoff run. In his only match of the day Miller defeated the Red Raider wrestler pin late in the match. Miller moves onto the semifinals.
197 – Colten Hink 0-2
Hink faced off against a Concordia Bulldog in his first match and was defeated 15-1 (major decision). In the second match, Hink fell behind to be defeated 9-3 and knocked out of the consolation bracket.
285 – Cole Hennings 0-2
Hennings would only lose his first match by four points (7-3) against a Jamestown wrestler. Hennings saw a similar defeat in his second match of the day, being defeated by decision.
285 – Trevion Sample 2-0
Sample continues to dominate as the No. 6 wrestler in the nation. Sample defeated his first opponent by decision (10-3). In the quarterfinal round, Sample would pin his opponent at 4:47 as he moves onto the semifinals tomorrow.
