Tiger softball splits with Saints
ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University softball team took on Presentation College for a non-conference double-header and split the games, winning the first game 12-2, and losing the second game 9-2 on Thursday in Aberdeen, S.D.

ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University softball team took on Presentation College for a non-conference double-header and split the games, winning the first game 12-2, and losing the second game 9-2 on Thursday in Aberdeen, S.D.
The Tigers (4-2) took an early 1-0 lead in the opening inning after Alexis Konda (Sioux Falls, S.D.) doubled to center field, bringing a run home.
One inning later, DWU tacked on three more runs after Madeline Else (Holstein, Iowa) hit a two-run single, followed by a sacrifice fly by Stephanie Gabel (Sioux Falls, S.D.) near the end of the frame.
The Tigers added five runs in the fourth inning, followed by three runs in the fifth frame to take a 12-2 lead, forcing the game to end due to the run rules.
Konda finished 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs and a run, as Julia Kelley (Omaha, Neb.) went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs. Chaydon Metzger (Larchwood, Iowa) went 3-for-4 from the plate with three runs scored. Kyllie Ramirez (Revillo, S.D.) picked up the win on the mound after pitching five innings and allowing just two runs.
In the second game, the Saints (1-8) took an early 1-0 lead. However, DWU took a 2-1 lead in the third inning after Adriana Thomason (Las Vegas, Nev.) hit an RBI single to center field. Thomason scored a few batters later after a PC error.
But the Saints regained the lead after adding three runs in the bottom half of the inning, followed by five runs in the following three innings.
Thomason went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, while Reagan Nebel (Hayti, S.D.) finished 1-for-3 with a run scored. Devany Farris (Cheyenne, Wyo.) was tabbed with the loss after pitching three frames and striking out one batter.
The Tigers return to action against Dakota State University at 10 a.m. and No. 10 Valley City State University at noon tomorrow at the PC Dome Classic in Aberdeen, S.D.
