Sabers finishes second at GPAC Championship
COLUMBUS, Neb. – Senior Kristin Sabers (Mitchell, S.D.) ended her Tiger career finishing in second-place at the Great Plains Athletic Conference Championship on Monday and Tuesday at the Quail Run Golf Course in Columbus, Neb.
COLUMBUS, Neb. – Senior Kristin Sabers (Mitchell, S.D.) ended her Tiger career finishing in second-place at the Great Plains Athletic Conference Championship on Monday and Tuesday at the Quail Run Golf Course in Columbus, Neb.
After leading her team to the NAIA Women's National Basketball Tournament earlier this season, Sabers traded in her basketball shoes for golf clubs and hit just five strokes shy of first place. In four rounds, Sabers shot an 83, 78, 79 and an 84 for a four-day total of 324.
Freshman Emily Sharkey (Upton, Wyo.) finished in the top-40 with a four-day total of 414. Fellow freshman Rebecca Frick (Yankton, S.D.) shot three rounds and tallied an 83, 84 and a 78. Madison VanWalleghan (Letcher, S.D.) shot a 101, 92 and a 98.
As a team, the Tigers finished in seventh-place with a total of 1,487. Briar Cliff was the team champion, while Amy Ahlers of Concordia took first.
