Tiger men win season opening Mount Marty Invite

The Tiger men shot a 297 to finish with a two-round total of 589 to win the event by 10 strokes. Northwestern, the defending Great Plains Athletic Conference champion, finished in second with a total score of 599.
Junior Russell Pick (Kimball, S.D.) led the Tigers with a two-round total of 143 to take second place on the overall leaderboard. Freshman Connor Preston (Aberdeen, S.D.) continued to impress with a 74 on Friday to finish with a total of 144 and a third-place finish. Junior Cal Wiese (Fedora, S.D.) competed on the DWU second team and finished fourth overall with a 149.
The Tiger women were led by senior Kristin Sabers (Mitchell, S.D.) with a third-place showing individually after firing a 167. Sophomore Nicole Nelson (Platte, S.D.) took 17th, carding a 178.
The Tiger men take the course next at Siouxland Invitational Thursday and Friday in Sioux Center, Iowa and Orange City, Iowa. The DWU women are off until the Midland University/College of Saint Mary Fall Classic starting Sept. 27.
