Whitney, Hogg and Sabers earn All-Conference honors
MITCHELL, S.D. – Seniors Thomas Hogg (Aberdeen, S.D.), Michael Whitney (Brandon, S.D.) and Kristin Sabers (Mitchell, S.D.) finished their careers on top after being named to the Great Plains Athletic Conference All-Conference Team.
MITCHELL, S.D. – Seniors Thomas Hogg (Aberdeen, S.D.), Michael Whitney (Brandon, S.D.) and Kristin Sabers (Mitchell, S.D.) finished their careers on top after being named to the Great Plains Athletic Conference All-Conference Team.
Hogg finished his career at the GPAC Tournament in Eagle, Neb., where he finished tied for second after shooting 305 through four rounds. The finish was the best on the season.
At the Briar Cliff University Invite on April 12, Hogg finished tied for fifth with a total of 145. He started the season at the Bethel Spring Invitational on April 1, where he finished sixth after shooting a 145.
Hogg put his name in the record books this season as he ranks first in DWU history in scoring average with an average score of 74.35 on the season. Hogg also recorded 48 birdies and three eagles on the season. He is also first in program history in Par Three scoring with a 3.22 stroke average and in Par Four scoring with a 4.24 stroke average.
Sabers finished second at the GPAC Championship in Columbus, Neb., tied for her best finish of the season. Sabers also finished second at the NC/DC Spring Invitational with a total of 161 and at the Morningside Spring Invite after shooting a 77.
On the season, she shot an average of 80.55 per round. This run came shortly after leading her team to the NAIA Women's National Basketball Tournament earlier this season.
This marks the fourth time in Hogg's career of receiving this honor and the second time in Sabers' career of being named to the All-GPAC Golf Team.
Whitney played in 12 tournaments as a senior and had an average score of 76.88. The senior tied for fifth twice at the GPAC Fall Qualifier No. 1 and the Dominic. Whitney's best round was a 72 at the Siouxland Invitational on Sept. 8-9.
