DWU WOMEN’S GOLF TEAM OPENS 2023 SEASON WITH DAY ONE AT MOUNT MARTY INVITATIONAL
Yankton, S.D. – DWU Women's Golf team opened the Mount Marty Invitational in strong fashion before windy conditions caused the Tigers to fall to fourth place after round one. Erin Moncur led the Tigers only being 10 over par.
How it Happened:
Erin Moncur had everything going for her early, recording three birdies in her first nine holes to find herself near the top of the leader board. Moncur ended round one with an 82 leaving her in the tenth position. Sara Sudenga walks out of round one tied at fourteenth shooting twelve over (84). Sudenga was only two strokes behind Moncur. Ashton Austreim was the third scorer for the Tigers, finishing 14 over par, scoring 86. Austreim ended round one tied for 20th. Kaylee Johnson finished tied for 27th with a pack of other competitors, finished with an 88. Kelsey Morrison finished 21 over par. Macee Bartels found herself 22 over par finishing round one. Shauna Radant brings up the last of the Tiger golfers, going 24 over par in round one.
Coach Meyerink' Thoughts
"We got out to a pretty good start, the ladies were focused and hitting some really nice shots. Then the wind picked up, and I think there was a lot of second guessing going on as to what type of shot to hit. We will talk about; we will make some adjustments and get back in it tomorrow."
