TIGER WOMEN’S GOLF FINISHES 4TH AT MOUNT MARTY INVITATIONAL
Yankton S.D. – DWU Women's Golf team finished the first meet of the 2023 season in strong fashion, finishing fourth out of 18 total teams. Erin Moncur was the top finisher, placing 6th overall with a two-round score of 162.
How it Happened:
Moncur improved in round two of the meet, only going eight over par, two strokes fewer than round one. Moncur all tournament limited her mistakes and maximized on opportunities when she had them. Interim head coach Jeff Meyerink had this to say about Moncur's performance, "Erin had a great tournament, she kept hitting quality shot after quality shot, no doubt she will be a contender all season long." Sara Sudenga was the second highest finisher for the Tigers. Sudenga stayed consistent, as she finished with an 84 in both rounds to land in 16th place. Another consistent finisher, Ashton Austreim, found herself in 27th with a total score of 172 in the two rounds. Kaylee Johnson finished round two with a 91, which put her 33 over between the two rounds. Shauna Radant, Kelsey Morrison, and Macee Bartels finished right behind each other at 183, 184, and 186 respectively.
Coach Meyerink's Thoughts
"The greens were playing firm and fast, it seemed like we were hesitant of going long and left a handful of putts short which cost them some strokes. The women fought hard to finish 4th. I'm starting to get a feel of where each individual's game is at and have a good idea where they can improve the most. It is something I'm looking forward to working on with them next week."
