DWU volleyball to host three camps
MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball team will be hosting three volleyball camps this summer for local youth and high school athletes.
MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball team will be hosting three volleyball camps this summer for local youth and high school athletes.
The DWU Volleyball Youth Camp will be held June 12 and 13 at the DWU/Avera Sports and Wellness Complex in Mitchell, S.D. Grades 2-5 are 45 dollars per player and runs from 8:30-11 a.m. both days. Grades 6-8 are 55 dollars per player and will take place from Noon-3 p.m.
The DWU Volleyball High School Camps will be July 24-25 at the DWU/Avera Sports and Wellness Complex. The Advanced Hitter/Setter portion of the camp will take place July 24 and costs 50 dollars.
The attacking segment will focus on arm swing, approach footwork, mechanics and timing. The setter portion will focus on hand position, follow through and movement. Setters will learn quicker tempo sets and attacking and dumping through progression drills.
The defensive and passing camp will take place on July 25 and will cost 50 dollars. This portion will focus on serving, digging and serve-receive passing. It will also work on posture, positioning, footwork and multiple repetitions. The cost for both camps is 85 dollars, and scholarships are available to those with financial need.
On July 26-27, the DWU Volleyball Team Camp will take place at the Christen Family Athletic Center and DWU/Avera Sports and Wellness Complex on the DWU campus. The cost is 30 dollars per player with a limit of 45 teams. Each team is guaranteed four matches each day with a total of eight matches.
