Frick earns second straight First Team honor, three Tigers named All-GPAC
MITCHELL, S.D. – For the second consecutive season, senior Rebecca Frick (Yankton, S.D.) was named to the All-Conference First Team following a record-setting season, while Mallory Cooper (Orchard, Neb.) and Emily Brunsing (Wagner, S.D.) were each tabbed to the Honorable Mention Team, it was announced by the Great Plains Athletic Conference Wednesday.
MITCHELL, S.D. – For the second consecutive season, senior Rebecca Frick (Yankton, S.D.) was named to the All-Conference First Team following a record-setting season, while Mallory Cooper (Orchard, Neb.) and Emily Brunsing (Wagner, S.D.) were each tabbed to the Honorable Mention Team, it was announced by the Great Plains Athletic Conference Wednesday.
Following her All-GPAC First Team honor a season ago, Frick becomes the ninth player in program history to be named to the first team. Frick completed her career with 1,750 career kills, good for second in DWU volleyball history. She also finished with 1,465 career digs, good for eighth in program history.
Frick finishes her career averaging 3.75 kills per set, along with a 0.234 hitting percentage. She also led the team with 4.6 kills per set and 540 total kills this season. Both marks led the GPAC in 2019. The Yankton, S.D., native ranked fourth in the NAIA in total kills and fifth in kills per set.
She broke her own personal bests for kills and digs after setting them last season. Versus Presentation College, Frick tallied 29 kills, while recording 31 digs against William Penn University.
Cooper finished her career in a Tiger uniform after leading the team at the Libero position. She paced the team with 582 digs and five digs per set. She ranked second in the GPAC in both categories. Cooper completed her career ranked sixth in program history in total digs with 1,582 career digs. She finished her career averaging 3.4 digs per set.
Brunsing was the third senior to be honored to the All-GPAC team. Brunsing finished the season with 122 total blocks, including 103 block assists and 19 solo blocks. She averaged a block per set, while recording a season high in blocks with eight versus College of Saint Mary and Keiser University. Brunsing ranked 11th and fifth in the GPAC in blocks per set and total blocks, respectively.
The Tigers finished with their best season since 1993 with a 20-12 record overall.
