DAY 1 RECAP AT BATTLE OF THE ROCKIES
Great Falls, Montana – The DWU women's wrestling team competed in a tough field of opponents at the Battle of the Rockies tournament this afternoon. Eight Tigers competed today with Jayden Lange leading the way for the team. Lange finished the day 4-2, making it all the way to the third-place match where she would be defeated by technical fall.

116: University of Providence (U of P) over Ashden Welty (Fall 1:37) in her first round. Welty received a bye then would be defeated by technical fall (10-0) in her second match by an Argo.
130: Mady Sargent would be defeated in both her matches of the day by fall. The first to a Riverhawk wrestler and then to Skylar Connelly (unattached).
136: Jayden Lange won her first round by fall over an Argo (1:31) and moved onto the quarterfinal round. A Menlo College Oak would defeat Lange by fall (1:58) to send Jayden to the consolation bracket. Lange received a bye then defeated a Riverhawk by technical fall (13-3) and advanced to the consolation semifinal. Lange would match up against Daniela Romo, an Oak for Menlo College. Lange found the advantage and pinned the Oak to the mat at the 2:21 mark. Lange's hot streak would be cut short in the 3rd place bout as she would be defeated by an Oak by technical fall (12-1).
155: Ali Bissel was defeated by Ellise Daynes in her first match of the day by fall (1:30). Bissell would move by the next two rounds via bye and forfeit. Bissel would fall in her final face off of the day to a Bluehawk from Dickinson State via fall (2:09).
155: Hallie Stone won by fall over an Argo in the first round (1:12). Stone would then be pinned in her second matchup by Kassidy Sigda (0:32) and then forfeit her final match of the day.
170: DeShawneigh Iron Cloud faced two Providence athletes in the tournament and fell to both in her first collegiate meet.
170: Cayley Maynard advanced to the quarterfinal round via bye and faced off against a tough slate of two Argos. Maynard was pinned in her second match (0:21) and received her second bye. In her final match, she fell to Alanna Haney of Providence (0:21).
170: Olivia Smith fell in both of her face offs today. Smith was defeated by technical fall by a U of P wrestler (18-7) and then defeated by another Argo by decision (7-0).

The Tigers will stay in Great Falls, Montana for the second day of the Battle of the Rockies event. They will face off in three separate duals. The Tigers will face Menlo College, University of Providence, and Umpqua Community College tomorrow starting at 4 p.m.
