Tigers open season at Sunflower Open
SIOUX CENTER, Iowa – The newest member of the Dakota Wesleyan University women’s cross-country top-10 list is freshman Tessa Kilber (Ipswich, S.D.) as she finished with a time of 20:40.68 minutes at the Sunflower Open on Saturday in Sioux Center, Iowa.
SIOUX CENTER, Iowa – The newest member of the Dakota Wesleyan University women's cross-country top-10 list is freshman Tessa Kilber (Ipswich, S.D.) as she finished with a time of 20:40.68 minutes at the Sunflower Open on Saturday in Sioux Center, Iowa.
Kilber led the women's side as she finished in 44th place, while the team took sixth out of nine teams. Fellow freshman Morgan Oedekoven (Pierre, S.D.) took 64th as she finished with a time of 21:30.09.
Annika Vermeulen (Mitchell, S.D.) finished in 21:47.19 and Delanie Larson (Gettysburg, S.D.) tallied a time of 22:06.9. Other women runners who competed include Savannah Schmidt (Plankinton, S.D.), Macey Bohl (Garretson, S.D.), Ashley Pruss (Tea, S.D.) and Samantha Shoultz (Huron, S.D.).
On the men's side, the Tigers took ninth place, while senior Devin Rihanek (Plankinton, S.D.) led the way taking 67th place in 29:00.63. Wyatt Baldauf (Seneca, Ill.) finished two spots behind his teammate as he finished in 29:14.68.
Not far behind the duo was Justin Sorensen (Vermillion, S.D.) as he took 72nd in 29:20.25, while freshman Hunter Shanks (Bennington, Neb.) ran in 31:02. Layne Lewis (Plankinton, S.D.) and Zach Fieber (Goodwin, S.D.) also competed for the Tigers.
