TIGER WOMEN’S GOLF BATTLES ON A WINDY SECOND DAY TO GRAB A SECOND-PLACE FINISH
Orange City, Iowa – Dakota Wesleyan women's golf wrapped up play in the Siouxland Invitational jumping three spots from the conclusion of day one to the end of day two. The Tigers battled their way to a second-place finish after shooting a total of 685 between the two days.
How it Happened
Megan Hinker led the Tigers after round one, shooting seven over while carding a pair of birdie shots and a trio of bogeys. Erin Moncur was tied for seventh after the first 18-holes carding an 81. She posted several par and bogey shots through day one. Becky Koepke concluded in 25th place after the opening round where she posted on birdie shot and several par shots. Ashton Austriem walked in the club house after day one in a four-way tie for 26th place after shooting 17 over par. Kelsey Morrison was also knotted in a four-way tie, but for 32nd place. Kaylee Johnson handed in a scorecard after the first round with 22 over par tying her for 42ndplace. Shauna Radant was tied for 49th place going 25 over par through the first 18-holes. Ashton Summerville rounded out the Tigers field as she was tied for 58th place going 33 over par on day one.
Hinker posted another strong round on her second round shooting a 79 again as she rallied for a second-place finish. She opened the day up with a par and birdie shots before four more par shots through the first six holes of the day. Overall, Hinker shot a 158 between the two days. Moncur wrapped up the invitational with an eighth-place finish after carding an 86 on day two with multiple bogey shots. Austreim climbed a few spots on day two with a 24th-place finish and scribing a pair of birdie shots, shooting a combined 178. Koepke placed 29th in the invitational while she shot a total of 180 through the two days. Morrison finished in 31st place after dropping a stroke from her day one score with a 90. She tallied a trio of par shots and a birdie shot on day two, for a total of 181 between the two days. Radant also posted a birdie shot on day two shooting nine strokes better than her first day as she placed 38th. Johnson placed 46th overall shooting a total of 192 between the two days. Summerville posted a 208 over the two days, placing her 57th.

"Weather conditions played a big role in today's score. I thought we handled the wind well and did a good job staying composed. The greens were first and fast, which led to some struggles with our short game. Proud of the groups attitude and looking forward to battling the rest of the season."

Tiger women's golf will head to Salina, Kan. next as they compete in the Central Plains Invitational hosted by Kansas Wesleyan University. The Tigers will tee off for day one on Monday, September 26, with play concluding on Tuesday, September 27.
