Hoek promoted to Associate Athletic Director for Internal Operations
MITCHELL, S.D. – After serving two years as the head men’s and women’s golf coach for Dakota Wesleyan University, Tom Hoek has been promoted to the Associate Athletic Director for Internal Operations, the DWU Athletic Department announced Tuesday.
MITCHELL, S.D. – After serving two years as the head men's and women's golf coach for Dakota Wesleyan University, Tom Hoek has been promoted to the Associate Athletic Director for Internal Operations, the DWU Athletic Department announced Tuesday.
Along with the move to Associate Athletic Director, Hoek will continue to serve as the Director of Golf. The De Smet, S.D., native will have responsibilities in supervision of personnel, game management and operations, budget review and ensure compliance and eligibility requirements with the NAIA and Great Plains Athletic Conference are met, along with other responsibilities.
"We couldn't be more excited to add Tom to our administrative team," Director of Athletics Jon Hart said. "During his time at DWU he has emerged as a great mentor, while having a bright vision for the future."
Hoek's experience with athletic administration dates to his time with the De Smet School District. He served as the Assistant Athletic Director for De Smet from 2015-17, while also serving as the head boys basketball coach and head boys and girls golf coach.
"I am extremely humbled and honored to join our athletic administration within this new role," Hoek commented. "I am sincerely grateful to Dr. Amy Novak, Theresa Kriese, and Jon and Curt Hart for their continued confidence in me, and I am excited in continuing the tradition of success encompassed by Dakota Wesleyan University and Tiger Athletics."
Other director roles Hoek filled include the De Smet Basketball Skills Academy Director, De Smet High School Acceleration Program Director, DWU Winter Golf Clinician and the Lakeview Jr. Golf Clinic Director.
"Tom has a strong background for internal operations and managing personnel," Hart mentioned. "Our department is going to benefit greatly with him in this role."
