Kammerer joins DWU baseball coaching ranks
MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University baseball team is proud to announce the hiring of Sean Kammerer as the new full-time assistant baseball coach, it was announced by DWU Director of Athletics Jon Hart Friday.
MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University baseball team is proud to announce the hiring of Sean Kammerer as the new full-time assistant baseball coach, it was announced by DWU Director of Athletics Jon Hart Friday.
Most recently, Kammerer served as the vice president, head coach and development coordinator for the Inland Empire Astros in Hayden, Idaho. In this role he provided professional coaching and instruction to players that were involved in the program. He also served as a leader on the board of directors to help build a productive and stable travel baseball organization.
"We are very fortunate to welcome Sean to our coaching staff," head baseball coach John Greicar said. "He brings great energy and a ton of baseball knowledge to our program. We expect him to make an immediate impact on campus and within the Mitchell community."
Prior to the Astros, Kammerer was a member of Concordia College in Bronxville, N.Y., where he was the assistant baseball coach, as well as the recruiting and hitting coach and the camp director. Kammerer provided quality coaching and instruction to students participating in the baseball program. He successfully recruited student athletes to improve the program to a playoff team in his first year.
Before working with Concordia College, Kammerer worked as the recruiting coordinator, Underclassmen Assistant Coach and the Rookies Head Baseball Coach. He developed recruitment plans and actively recruited new teams into the Bayside Yankees organization.
"I'm excited to get the ball rolling as a member of Coach Greicar's coaching staff," Kammerer commented.
Kammerer has also worked with the LINY Baseball Club, Inc., in Westbury, N.Y., and at St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill, N.Y.
He played winter baseball with the West District Bulldogs Baseball Club in Brisbane, Australia as a starting catcher. He also served as the Assistant 'A' Grade Coach and Head Senior Coach while with the Bulldogs.
Kammerer played professional baseball in Tranas, Sweden with the Tranas Baseball Club. He started at catcher and played third base, while working as an assistant coach and Public Relations Associate.
